"TOKYO BOSAI" is the largest disaster prevention publication project in the world. It’s a book distributed to every 7.5 million households in Tokyo for free. Packed with unique survival tips and knowledge made, edited and designed exclusively for Tokyoites. It provoked a nationwide awareness and made people prepared for the disaster. It spread in the blink of an eye and saw the emergence of interest not only in the Tokyo metropolitan area but throughout the entire country, becoming Japan's national project.

As a universal design, we used key warning colors of yellow and black to locate easily in your shelf, using manga illustration methods to simulate disasters. Regardless of age, we emphasized easy to understand and eye-catching drawings to be understood even for those with a low consciousness of disaster preparation.

Many subsequent disaster prevention projects after the book was published have adopted similar designs with yellow and black as their primary colors, cementing the place of "TOKYO BOSAI" as the initiative that introduced a completely new set of visual cues used in disaster prevention design.
